After I Fall
by Amity Hope
Release Date: 12/15/14

Summary from Goodreads:

When EmLynn’s dad loses his battle with
cancer, the last thing she wants is to move across the country to live with her
Mom. Her mom left her dad years ago to start a new, improved family with her
new, improved husband.

When Eric finds himself in the middle of a mess of someone else’s making, the
last thing he wants is to be dumped into the foster care system. He’s spent
most of his life on his own, so he doesn't see the point of having a pretend
family now.

A chance meeting has them both thinking that maybe their new town of Roseville
isn’t so bad. But as they grow closer, an unknown enemy, along with a tangle of
secrets and a web of little white lies, may just be enough to make their
newfound love unravel completely.

~ EXCERPT ~

He tugged at my hand and pulled me into an alcove. It led into a craft shop but it was closed this late in the evening. He pulled me into his arms, then tightened the hold as he drew me close enough to whisper in my ear.
“Can I tell you a secret?” he asked.
“Absolutely.” My hands slid up, gripping his biceps.
“I’ve been wanting to do this for weeks.” He leaned in, his lips pressing gently against mine. It was a short, sweet kiss. A perfect first kiss because it held a promise of more to come.
“I think…I think I like your secrets,” I whispered back.
“Good,” he said as we moved onto the sidewalk. “Because I think I have a few more where that came from.”

~ INTERVIEW ~

1) What made you choose to become a writer? Is it a long time passion?
Yes, writing is a longtime passion. I’ve been an avid reader my whole life. I started writing when I was in high school. I stopped writing for a bit when my kids were small. I had been working at a job where I was fortunate enough to have my summers off. I wrote Twisted (my debut novel) just for fun, over a summer vacation. I held onto it for a few years while I worked on other books. At the time, there was no such thing as self-publishing. Eventually e-readers came out and I decided to take a chance. I haven’t regretted it and only wish I’d self-published sooner.

2) Suggest five books that you think our readers should also read?
The Beautiful Creatures series by Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia
Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
Warriors of Ankh series by Samantha Young
Fire Spirits series by Samantha Young
**I really love Samantha Young’s paranormal stories!
Striking by Lila Felix and Rachel Higginson
That’s more than five books but I prefer paranormal and so few of them are written as standalones.

3) Do you have a favorite place you like to write?
I’m easily distracted. I can only write at home, in my office. I do keep a notebook with me everywhere I go. I’m always jotting down ideas, scenes, or lines that come into my head.

4) Do you start with an outline or did you skip the outline and jump into the full story? If you use an outline, do you find it easier to write your book or harder?
When writing I usually come up with my own version of an outline. I list out the chapters. From there I write down the ideas/scenes that have popped into my head. There ends up being a lot of cutting and pasting as I move chapters around. This method probably wouldn’t work for everybody but it has worked well for me. It’s a fluid approach and it’s easy to make changes as the story unfolds.

5) What are some of your favorite past times besides writing?
I love to read, that’s probably a given. Both of my sons are in baseball and I spend a good chunk of spring and summer going to their games. In the winter we love to go to hockey games.

6) What have you found to be one of your biggest struggles with self-publishing?
Self-promoting. I’m a little too introverted to feel comfortable with it, or be good at it. It’s the only thing I really don’t like.

7) What do you enjoy about self publishing?
I like to be able to set my own pace. There are many times when I start writing a story and another story completely infiltrates my head. I like to have the flexibility to work on whichever book is flowing at the moment.
